Console tables are often placed in narrow spaces, so depth is usually the most important measurement. A table can look slim in a photograph and still take too much space from a hallway.

Measure the passage first
Mark the proposed table depth from the wall and walk past it. Check the narrowest point, including door frames, radiators and other furniture.
Account for skirting boards
Some console tables cannot sit flush against the wall because their feet or lower shelf meet the skirting. Add that gap to the practical depth.
Allow drawers and cupboards to open
A shallow cabinet may still need a large clear area in front when drawers or doors are used. Measure those open positions before deciding on placement.
Behind a sofa
Compare console height with the sofa back. A very tall table can dominate the seating area, while a very low table may be awkward to reach.
Check the top load and intended use
If you plan to place lamps, large mirrors or heavy decorative objects on the table, follow the manufacturer’s load and fixing guidance rather than estimating from appearance.

For a specific glass-top model, see the VASAGLE UKLNT10BX console table. Its page links to current Amazon and eBay options; confirm the exact model and retailer details before ordering.
Separate the display surface from usable storage
Before choosing a console for a hallway, decide whether you need a landing surface, concealed storage or somewhere to sit. A decorative top and a lower shelf do not automatically solve a shoe-storage problem, and a console is not a seat unless the manufacturer explicitly specifies that use.
Use our narrow-hallway furniture planner to compare a console, shoe storage and a bench around your everyday routine. It includes closed and in-use planning zones so drawers, chair positions and doors are considered alongside the walking route.
Test a behind-sofa position in use
Check the sofa at its widest point and allow for any reclining movement before marking the table outline. If you plan to use a lamp, confirm access to its switch and the socket without routing a loose cable across the passage. Test removing a basket from a lower shelf as well as reaching objects on the top: those actions can require different amounts of space.
