Full-Length Mirror Size Guide: Height, Width and Floor Footprint

A full-length mirror needs enough visible glass, enough distance for the user to step back, and — for freestanding designs — enough floor depth for the support behind it.

SONGMICS UKLFM034B01, 150 × 40 cm, shown as one freestanding option. Allow extra depth for its support and keep it clear of door swings.

Measure the mirror face

Use the published glass or overall dimensions rather than the product photograph. A wide frame can make the product look larger without increasing the useful reflective area.

Allow viewing distance

A smaller mirror can still provide a full-length view when positioned correctly, while a large mirror can be less useful in a space where you cannot step back.

Freestanding mirrors need floor depth

The rear support or easel can extend well beyond the mirror itself. Mark the complete opened footprint on the floor and keep it away from door swings and busy walkways.

Wall-mounted mirrors

Check the supplied hanging system and choose fixings suitable for the wall construction and product weight. Do not assume a generic picture hook is appropriate.

Placement and light

Position the mirror where it is useful in normal room lighting and where reflections from windows or lamps will not make it difficult to use.
